Drewry Shunter D2212
by
B. Peacock
In 2004 a Drewry shunter was built from a 4mm scale drawing complimented by extensive photographic research. The model was formed from galvanised mild steel sheet, and comprised four main sections, bonnet/footplating/skirts, radiator cowling, cab, and cab roof. The bonnet and cab were folded from flat sheet to avoid the many joints which would otherwise have been required. This also contributed to the overall strength of the completed body which could be lifted on and off the powered chassis for battery changing.
D2212 was painted in green livery when first completed.
In 2011 the body was repainted into original black livery and numbered 11113
Drewry Shunter D2258
In 2005 a second Drewry shunter was built using similar construction methods, but with the cab riveting completed before folding, and a two piece radiator cowling. This model was fabricated from bright mild steel sheet, and finished in blue livery.
